The Android app pairs to a USB fingerprint scanner over OTG. The device holds an Ed25519 key, signs every request, and captures attendance with a template-only biometric decision. Evidence syncs when the signal returns.

The application is governed by South African law. Production compute currently runs on Hetzner in Helsinki, Finland (EU). Cross-border processing is assessed under POPIA section 72 with GDPR, contractual, encryption and access-control safeguards published in the Trust Centre. We do not claim physical South African residency when it is not true.
Can the platform verify a South African ID?
Learner IDs are validated with the official Luhn checksum and date-of-birth, gender and citizenship rules. Live Department of Home Affairs verification is available through a certified reseller adapter once the provider supplies credentials; until then the platform runs in an explicitly labelled simulator mode.
Does the mobile app store fingerprint images?
No. The design stores ISO/IEC 19794-2 minutiae templates, encrypted at rest, and never raw fingerprint images. The device signs every request with an Ed25519 key that is registered to the learner and device.
Is the audit trail really tamper-evident?
Every compliance-relevant mutation appends an entry whose hash includes the previous entry. Daily Merkle roots are sealed over the chain, and the public verification endpoint only returns a result for a hash that exists in the sealed ledger.
How are stipends calculated?
The engine composes payable days from attendance and public-holiday rules, applies the learner's programme and NMW learnership floor for 2026 (GN R.7083), and produces a line-level breakdown. Finance can lock the run, with dual sign-off above configured thresholds.
Do you support offline sites?
Yes. Attendance batches are captured offline with a device cursor and idempotency key, then synchronised when connectivity returns. The server records batch receipts so a retry cannot create duplicate attendance.
Is there a free trial?
We run a guided pilot rather than an open trial, because the platform needs a configured programme, cohort and evidence policy before the numbers mean anything. Contact us to scope a pilot.
